Persuasive Speech- Should U.S. gun laws be more strict?

In this day and time, a numerous amount of people have had concerns about the United States gun laws and the threats made by the presidential authorities.  I am sure the question has arose in many Americans minds, about what will come of this ongoing issue.  What will happen?

Within the U. S. Constitution, issued in 1787, is a bill of rights.  The Bill of Rights consists of the first 10 amendments, in which one of them states the following: “ A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”  We as Americans have a right, that is clearly stated, and should not be contravened.  Only the Congress or the states has the ability to really change the Constitution. The only way to actually change it is via a constitutional amendment. Congress or the states can initiate that, and the amendment has to be ratified by a fixed number of states before it takes effect.

Another concern about the gun laws in America is the number of people who have a current concealed handgun license. The ability to have a license to carry a gun is a privilege. One must never be convicted of a felony. One may not have a Class A or B misdemeanor. One must be 21 years or older. Many more requirements must be made until a person is eligible for a concealed handgun license. But, for the people who put forth an effort should not have to suffer from to being allowed, due to the actions of someone less responsible.

Everyone has there own opinion about everything. Even the authority. President Barack Obama recently stated “Citizenship means standing up for the lives that gun violence steals from us each day. I have seen the courage of parents, students, pastors, and police officers all over this country who say ‘we are not afraid,’ and I intend to keep trying, with or without Congress, to help stop more tragedies from visiting innocent Americans in our movie theaters, shopping malls, or schools like Sandy Hook.” No one can really understand the meaning of statements and opinions made by others. Certain people, for example, criminals, should not have guns. This issue is not right.

In conclusion, the issue of stricter gun laws in the United States, I believe, will always be discussed and argued over. Stricter gun laws should not be enforced. For, the citizens of America deserve and earn their rights. Those who do not abide by proper rules and regulations should be appropriately disciplined.
